What is a hospice?
Fraser Coast Hospice is a 6-bed short-stay facility where people spend their final days and weeks surrounded by comfort, dignity, and the people they love.
We're not a long-term care facility. We're here for when you or your loved one needs specialised palliative care in the last days and weeks of life. Whether that's for symptom management, respite care, or end-of-life support, anyone over 18 with a terminal illness can access our care.
How We Care
The caring role at the Hospice is shared with dedicated nursing staff, doctors, pastoral care, volunteers and other health professionals. Fraser Coast Hospice also provides ongoing bereavement support and follow up for families as well as regular remembrance services.
The Hospice provides a safe, welcoming space, where clients and loved ones can feel supported. We allow family members to resume their roles as spouse, child, parent or concerned friend, and step back from the role of carer, which many families can struggle to cope with.
We work with their existing GP if they're credentialled at our facility, or help you find a doctor who can coordinate their care. Our support continues after you leave, with bereavement follow-up and regular remembrance services for you and those who matter to them.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who will be looking after me at Fraser Coast Hospice?
A specially trained multi-disciplinary team of doctors, registered nurses, personal care assistants and volunteers will be looking after you and your family while you are an inpatient at Fraser Coast Hospice. You may be able to have your own doctor co-ordinate your care if they are credentialled to visit our facility but if not, we can help you to find a doctor.
How can I refer to the Fraser Coast Hospice?
Referrals can be accepted from prospective clients themselves, families, doctors, domiciliary nursing services and hospitals.
Call us on 07 4334 0030 to discuss.
What costs are associated with admission to Fraser Coast Hospice?
Fraser Coast Hospice is a fee-free palliative care service, however there may be items such as pathology, radiology, doctor visits and other medical equipment that may not be covered. Clients and their families are also required to cover the cost of medications supplied by our contracted pharmacy. This is similar to being at home and purchasing your own medications from your local pharmacy.
Anyone over the age of 18 years with a terminal illness can access our inpatient service whether they have private health insurance or not.
