Your hospice is governed by local people who understand this community. Our Board provides strategic direction and oversight, ensuring Fraser Coast Hospice remains here when families need it.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is elected by the Fraser Coast Hospice Association. Together with our leadership team, they provide the governance and strategic direction that keeps our service fee-free for everyone who needs us.

These local leaders bring professional expertise and deep community connections to ensure Fraser Coast families have access to compassionate, dignified end-of-life care. They volunteer their time and experience because they understand how vital this service is to our region.

Mr Ross Zelow

Previously the longstanding Principal of Urangan State High School for more than 15 years, Ross went on to a senior leadership role with the Queensland Department of Education as Assistant Regional Director.

He is now the CEO of Zelow Leaderhip and Coaching, working as a coach and mentoring partner providing leadership development programs across a range of settings. He has qualifications in Education and postgraduate qualifications in Educational Leadership and Organisational Coaching.

Reflecting his support for his local community, in addition to his role on the Fraser Coast Hospice Board, Ross is also a member of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Committee.

Mrs Jasine Leslie

Founder and Honorary Secretary

Jasine is a Registered Nurse with 25 years nursing experience, her main interests and work experience being in palliative, oncology and community nursing care. Jasine is currently a Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Regional and Rural Palliative Care Program Bluecare Wide Bay, and some of her previous experience has included roles as NUM at GenesisCare Oncology for 8 years, CNC and Pall Care Nurse Specialist in RDNS for 10 years – Victoria.

She has also previously worked for Toowoomba Hospice and Toowoomba Blue Care Community before that.

She is the proud mother of three grown children and her and her husband have made the beautiful Hervey Bay home for the last 10 years.  Jasine is passionate about community and social justice – having nursed as a volunteer on a medical ship twice in PNG and volunteering for the past 8 years at Riding for the Disabled Hervey Bay as committee President and horse volunteer.

Jasine has been involved from the beginning in 2018 as the Founder and Secretary on the original committee of the Fraser Coast Hospice – a huge dream and passion of hers’. She continues as Secretary and Founder on the Board of Directors, serving the Fraser Coast Community.

Jasine holds a Bachelor of Health Science – Nursing, Post Grad Diploma in Palliative Care and a Certificate 3 in Frontline Leadership. She is a member of Palliative Care Queensland and Cancer Nurses Society Australia.

Mrs Megan Savill

After 20+ years of building a successful executive management career, Megan realised that her passion and skill for nurturing leaders could be directed anywhere and benefit many others. This realisation gave Megan the strength & courage to depart executive management and launch her leadership coaching business.

Coaching leaders and mentoring entrepreneurs brings Megan joy. Aiding their discovery or reconnection with self, freeing them of busyness, and enabling them to think and act strategically provides Megan great satisfaction.

Mrs Kristy Wright

Honorary Treasurer

Kristy has worked in real estate since 2001 and owns a successful local agency. A natural leader with a talent for thinking outside the box, she built her business from the ground up and has a passion for developing people and organisations rather than seeking the spotlight.

Beyond her business, Kristy has served on a mental health board and worked with defence force leadership to create programs supporting defence families. She has also contributed to Indigenous housing initiatives and has personal family connections to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

Kristy is an active supporter of community events and fundraising, including gala dinners and charity golf days.

As a board member, Kristy is focused on raising awareness of the vital role Fraser Coast Hospice plays for local families. She is committed to ensuring the hospice remains sustainable so families have the dignity of choice in end-of-life care, not just an overcrowded hospital.

Kristy’s vision is clear: with the community’s support, Fraser Coast Hospice can remain a place of dignity and peace for generations to come

Mr Ross Cook

Ross brings over 20 years of experience in construction and manufacturing, with a robust background in sales, marketing, management, and operations.

Ross is currently on the executive leadership team at Neumann Steel, where he led the tender for the Fraser Coast Hospice project, including a product donation to support the facility’s build.

Ross is passionate about community impact, drawing inspiration from the hospice’s work with individuals in need. 

Ross is honored to contribute high-level management and industry expertise to further the hospice’s mission.

Mr Allan Villappaly

Allan Villappaly is an accomplished physiotherapist, business leader, and community advocate whose career bridges clinical excellence, innovation, and compassionate service. As Director and Senior Physiotherapist at ProMelius - a leading allied health organisation in Hervey Bay - Allan is dedicated to improving quality of life for people across all ages and abilities through evidence-based, person-centred care.

Holding dual Master’s degrees in Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy and advanced qualifications in Paediatric Physiotherapy from Monash University, Allan brings over a decade of experience spanning paediatric rehabilitation, disability support, and elite sports performance. He is also a certified Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) Practitioner, offering cutting-edge therapy to children with developmental and neurological challenges.

Allan’s career has extended well beyond private practice into international elite sport, where he has served as Head Physiotherapist for the Indian National Basketball Team and provided physiotherapy services to the National Boxing and National Archery Teams, supporting athletes at the highest levels of competition. These experiences have strengthened his clinical insight, cultural awareness, and leadership under pressure.

Beyond his clinical expertise, Allan is deeply engaged in governance and community development. He serves on several boards and advisory committees, including the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, the Queensland State Committee for Disability Physiotherapy (Australian Physiotherapy Association), and the External Advisory Committee at the University of the Sunshine Coast. His appointment to the Fraser Coast Hospice Board reflects his commitment to dignity, compassion, and excellence in end-of-life care.

A published researcher and respected health leader, Allan has contributed to peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy and the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma. Under his leadership, ProMelius has evolved into a thriving multidisciplinary practice recognised for its innovation, sustainability, and outstanding client and staff satisfaction.

Passionate about giving back, Allan actively supports community initiatives such as Men’s Walk and Talk Hervey Bay, the All Abilities Futsal Team, the Fraser Coast All Abilities Awards, and the Dunga Derby. His approach to leadership and care is guided by empathy, integrity, and a strong belief in building healthier, more inclusive communities across the Fraser Coast.

Dr Paul Neeskens

Dr Neeskens has been a GP in Hervey Bay since 1987 and retired from full time Family General Practice in 2025. He has always been passionate about comprehensive cradle to the grave medicine.

In 1994 he completed a weeklong residential course in Palliative Care at MT Olivet Hospital Kangaroo Point (now St Vincents). He has also been Senior Lecturer (General Practice) with the University of QLD since 2000, and continues in that role, which includes specific modules on Palliative Care and Aged Care. His very part time clinical role in 2025, and beyond, is as the attending GP for his patients at one of the local Aged Care Homes.  

As well has his clinical activity Dr Neeskens has been a Board member and Chair of various regional primary health care organizations from 1996 to 2020 (GP Division of General Practice and Medical Local) as well as a past member of the St Stephens Medical Advisory Committee (2015-19) and various other QLD Health advisory committees (including Palliative Care, 1996 – 2005).

He brings a wealth of Clinical and Board experience to the Fraser Coast Hospice.

Led by our CEO-Director of Care, this dedicated team ensures our hospice operates to the highest standards while never losing sight of what matters most: creating a place of peace for Fraser Coast families at a crucial point in their journey.

Mrs Alicia Trimingham-Turl

Chief Executive Officer - Director of Care

Alicia Trimingham-Turl has been a Registered Nurse for the past 20 years working in management in acute private hospital and hospice settings.

Completing a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Southern Queensland in 2000, she commenced her working career as a post graduate at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital on the Sunshine Coast. Relocating back to the Darling Downs in 2002, Alicia then worked on the Oncology/Palliative Care Ward at St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

In 2003, Alicia accepted a Registered Nurse position at the new purpose built 6 bed inpatient facility Toowoomba Hospice. She was appointed to the Director of Nursing role at the Hospice in 2005 and after 10 years moved back to the Sunshine Coast to work again at Nambour Selangor Private Hospital as the Nurse Unit Manager of the Miles Savill palliative care wing.

Longing to return to Hospice and a community based organisation that makes a difference to people with a terminal illness, Alicia was appointed to the Director of Care role at the new purpose built 6 bed Fraser Coast Hospice in Hervey Bay in July 2021. She was instrumental in the initial setup of licensing and accreditation of the facility.

Alicia’s post graduate studies include a Graduate Certificate Cancer Nursing (QUT), Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Specialist Certificate Palliative Care (UofM) and is currently completing a Bachelor of Nursing with Professional Honours (Oncology Nursing) at the University of Tasmania.
